CLAUK, in collaboration with Haringey Migrant Network, CARIS, and Migrants Rights Network, co-organised an Inter-community Debate and Question Time event in Haringey prior to the 2015 General Elections. Together, our organisations represent a wide variety of communities including the Turkish, Kurdish, Latin American, Somali and Asian communities. The Debate was an important opportunity for our communities to come together to engage with local candidates, discuss policies, and ask important questions about their concerns. This event was organised to ensure local migrant communities (and voters) had an opportunity to engage with political debate, where they might otherwise be unable to do so. There were translators, creche workers and many inter-community volunteers to support the event.
