Privacy Policy

We will always do our very best to keep the information we hold about you safe and secure. We will never share your data with any third party without your consent.

As a community organisation, CLAUK (Coalition of Latin Americans in the UK) is committed to keeping the information our members and supporters share with us safe and secure, in line with the Data Protection Act (1998) and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Our Data Privacy Promise

We will always do our very best to keep your data safe and secure. We will never share your data with any third party without your consent.

How We Use Your Data

We collect information such as contact details, postcode, and preferred language so that we can stay in touch with our members and supporters and inform them about CLAUK’s activities, campaigns, events, and how to get involved.

We may collect basic information about your immigration or residency status, nationality, or access to services to help us better understand the needs of the Latin American community in the UK. Providing this information is always optional.

If you choose to share more detailed information with us — for example, about your situation or barriers you are facing — to help us support you or improve our advocacy work, that information will be stored securely and will only be viewable by a limited number of authorised staff.

Emails, Text Messages and Phone Calls

We use a third-party platform, Action Network, to deliver our email newsletter and campaign updates. Action Network gathers standard statistics on email openings and clicks to help us improve our communications. For more information, please see Action Network’s privacy policy. You can unsubscribe at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any of our emails or by contacting us at [email protected].

We may also contact you via phone or text message if you have given your consent to be contacted in this way. If you do not wish to receive phone or SMS communications, please email [email protected].

How We Keep Your Data Safe

We store your data using secure platforms, including Google Drive, which is protected by industry-standard security protocols and encryption. We also store contact information in Action Network, which uses encryption and data protection procedures in line with GDPR.

Access to your data is limited to a small number of authorised CLAUK staff or volunteers who are trained in data protection. We maintain strict internal processes to manage and secure your personal information.

Some of the data centres used by Google and Action Network are based in the US. Any transfer or storage of personal data to their servers is governed by data processing agreements that comply with UK and EU data protection laws.

Your Right to Your Data

We will store your data securely for a maximum period of 7 years. After this period, your data will be securely destroyed.

You have the right to view, amend, or delete the personal information we hold about you. You can contact us at any time to make a request or ask us to stop storing your data, [email protected].
